Why we hold it, and on what basis

We hold what you send us in order to perform the contract you entered into when you placed an order, or to take the steps you asked for before one, such as answering an enquiry or a message. We keep a record of each sale because the law requires it for accounting and tax. We also have a legitimate interest in keeping our forms free of abuse, which is the basis for the short-lived records described under Security below.

Your name, email address and brief are needed to fulfil an order: without them we cannot do the work or send it to you. We make no decisions about you by automated means alone.

We do not sell your information, share it for anyone else's marketing, or use it to train a model, ours or anybody else's.

What we collect

What you type into the order form: your name, email address, optional organisation, the brief, the test questions, what a good answer has to do, any near-miss questions, the tools you told us the skill will run on, and any sources you listed. For an assessment and refresh, the skill you paste in. For a framework enquiry, your name, email, optional organisation and what you are trying to build. For a message sent through the contact form, your name, email, the topic you chose and your message.

Your payment is handled by Stripe on their own hosted checkout. Card details never reach this site or our servers.

Files you upload

If you attach your own material, those files are stored so we can read them while building your skill. They are kept with your order and used for nothing else. Files attached to a brief that is never paid for are deleted automatically.

Uploaded documents are opened in an isolated environment with no network access, a read-only filesystem and no privileges, because material we did not choose is material we do not trust by default. Nothing you send is used to train a model, ours or anyone else's.

Please do not upload material you are not free to share with us: anything under someone else's confidentiality obligation, or containing personal data about other people, unless we have agreed that in advance.

We keep what you send us until the work has been delivered and received. After that it is deleted, unless we have agreed something different with you in writing. You can ask us to delete it sooner and we will, subject to the note under Your rights below.

Where material you send contains personal data about other people, such as a recording of a meeting, you remain responsible for it and we process it only on your instructions, to build your skill.

Links you send us

Where you give us a link to a recording or a page, we fetch it and produce a transcript or a text copy so it can be read alongside everything else. That copy is kept with your order under the same terms as an uploaded file.

Where it goes

Your brief is stored at Cloudflare while payment completes. An unpaid brief is deleted automatically after 24 hours. A paid brief is held while the work is done, and deleted once the work has been received unless we have agreed otherwise with you in writing.

The record of the sale itself (your name, email address, organisation, what you bought, the amount and the date) is kept for six years, as UK accounting and tax law requires. Framework enquiries and contact-form messages are kept for twelve months after our last exchange with you, so we can pick a conversation back up.

These organisations handle your information for us, and only for the purposes above:

  • Cloudflare hosts this site and stores briefs, uploaded files, order records and messages.
  • Resend sends our emails: your order confirmation and delivery, and the internal notices that tell us an order, enquiry or message has arrived, which include what you wrote.
  • AI model providers run the models we use to research, write and test your skill, under business terms that do not allow your material to be used to train their models.
  • Stripe processes your payment and issues your receipt and VAT invoice. Stripe also uses payment information for its own fraud prevention and legal obligations, and for that it is responsible under its own privacy policy.

Some of these providers are based in, or use infrastructure in, the United States and other countries outside the UK. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law provides for this: an adequacy decision such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum approved by the Information Commissioner.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary cookie or use similar browser storage to protect the site and its forms from automated abuse, including for the Turnstile check described under Security. When you pay, you do so on Stripe's own checkout page, which uses cookies for fraud prevention and to make payment work, under Stripe's cookie policy. Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent, which is why this site does not ask for it.

Security

Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that they are being filled in by a person rather than an automated program. To do that, Cloudflare processes technical information about your browser and connection, such as your IP address, only for that check and not for advertising or tracking you across other sites.

To stop our forms being abused, we also record the IP address a submission or upload came from. For the forms, that record expires after ten minutes. For an uploaded file, it is kept with the file and deleted with it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, object to us holding it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or ask for it in a portable form. Email [email protected], use the contact form, or write to the address at the foot of this page, and we will respond within one month.

Deleting material we hold for an order may mean we can no longer complete that order or answer questions about it later. We will say so before acting rather than afterwards.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.
